About Village Noire:
THE VILLAGE, REIMAGINED FOR HOW WE ACTUALLY LIVE TODAY
Village Noire is a digital platform and community of practice grounded in one belief: we are not meant to do life alone. Built upon the Villaging framework, which rests on five pillars — Belonging, Collective Care, Intentional Community, Reciprocity, and Shared Resources—Village Noire offers an ecosystem of resources and tools to support the cultivation and sustainability of true community and support through mutual aid and care.
The work of Village Noire may resonate with you if…
… relationships have shifted over time,
… life has carried you away from the people who know you best,
… you want to be more intentional about the relationships you’re a part of,
… your life vision doesn’t quite fit the traditional mold of family and friendships,
…or if you've never quite learned how to build community on purpose.
While change starts with self, Villaging is a praxis that can be applied to individual, team, and organizational practices.
MEET THE FOUNDER:
Tiffany Wiggins, PhD
“To be rich in community is to be well within yourself.”
I’m the Founder of Village Noire and the architect of the Villaging framework. I am also a Clinical Assistant Professor whose research centers on relational well-being among Black women in academia and the workplace. But more importantly, I’m a human who strongly believes that we are not meant to do life alone. And since you’re here, I’m going to assume that you believe that too…or are at least curious about the idea of it.
Creating a village and being a good villager within it is important, life-saving, soul-serving work. No matter what society feeds us or how disconnected social media enables us to be, we all benefit from engaging in living interdependently and growing together - helping and supporting one another, giving and receiving care in ways that are specific to our needs, ensuring that everyone has someone, and we all are equitably sharing the resources that are available to each of us.
I built the Villaging framework at the intersection of my academic research and my lived experience — studying belonging in theory while learning, often the hard way, what it requires in practice. Village Noire is what happened when I decided those two things shouldn't stay separate. I am creating this ecosystem—with the villaging framework right at the center—to reimagine the idea of doing life together, of building and sustaining the village that fortifies us mentally, physically, and emotionally.
I look forward to working with and learning alongside you. Life is not meant to be done alone, so let’s do it together!
I invite you to learn more into the Villaging Framework, take the Village Assessment to see where you stand on your villaging journey, or submit an inquiry form to start the conversation on how we can work together.
Thank you for being here…
xoxo,
Tiffany
